Ceramic installation on surfaces requiring repair

Ceramic installation on surfaces requiring repair

Surface Preparation

Before applying ceramics on uneven surfaces, the surface must be leveled. It is incorrect to use the adhesive to eliminate these irregularities during ceramic application. Otherwise, the required layer thickness will not be achieved, and the arrangement of the ceramics will lose its aesthetic appearance. Additionally, using an excessive thickness of adhesive can lead to shrinkage during drying and cause surface distortion.

On smooth surfaces with minor level differences, repair materials should be used to perform surface repairs. For surfaces that need to be brought to an even level, self-leveling, ready-to-use floor leveling materials can be applied, ensuring smoothness of 4-8 mm and up to 20-40 mm.

Application of Ceramic Bonding and Joint Filling

For small-scale ceramic applications, adhesives of class C1 in accordance with EN12004-1 standard should be used. For medium and large-scale ceramic applications, high-performance, enhanced properties of class C2 adhesives should be chosen. For long-lasting joint filling, silicone-based, antibacterial joint fillers should be used.
