Surface preparation

Proper surface preparation is critical when applying waterproofing and ceramics to areas in constant contact with water, such as decorative pools and garden ponds. The application area must be sound, dry, clean, dust-free and transportable. Oil, rust, grease and paraffin residues, which can weaken the adhesion, must be completely removed. There should be no more crumbs on the surface and the surface should be saturated with moisture.

If there are pieces of iron or wood on the surface, they should be removed and these gaps should be filled two days in advance with a suitable repair material. In order to ensure a good reaction of the surface to the adhesive materials, the surface should be primed with Universal Primer and its absorbency should be reduced. This operation should not be applied in areas that are frozen, thawing or in danger of freezing, as temperature changes may affect the strength of the surface.

Application of waterproofing

Two-component flexible waterproofing products should be used in areas that are in continuous contact with water, such as decorative pools and garden ponds. Izopower B40 or fully elastic B70 UV Izopower are suitable options for these areas. Joint lines in floors, walls and corners are considered weak points and these areas should be reinforced with Isopower Pah Bands.

The first layer of waterproofing should be applied with a brush or roller, and the exact middle of the chamfer band should coincide with the joint line of the surfaces. Each layer should be applied in opposite directions to ensure maximum insulation effectiveness. A waiting period of 5-6 hours is required between coats and at least 7 days before the final coat is completely dry. Leak tests should be performed within 24 hours of application to verify leak-tightness.

Ceramic adhesive and joint filler application

For the application of ceramic or mosaic in decorative pools and garden ponds, high quality adhesive products are required. FugaPower Flex CG2W or FugaPower Flex White CG2W adhesives meeting the requirements of class C2 and S1 according to the EN12004-1 standard are ideal for this type of work. These adhesives ensure strong adhesion of ceramics and mosaics to the surface and provide durability for long-term use.

FugaPower Regular CG1 or FugaPower Pro CG2W joint fillers should be used for a long-lasting joint filler with silicone, flexible and antibacterial. These joint fillers meet the requirements of sealing and aesthetic appearance of decorative pools, ensuring that ceramics and mosaics remain in perfect condition for a long time.
